The Spanish club Real Madrid officially announced today, Sunday, that its Brazilian star Vinicius Junior has suffered a shoulder injury following medical examinations conducted on him.
While the duration of his absence from the field has not been determined, the club indicated that his health status will be assessed according to the progression of his condition.
Vinicius Junior’s injury occurred after participating in the match held yesterday, Saturday, at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, where he contributed to his team’s 2-0 victory over Villarreal by scoring one of the goals.
This victory is seen as a morale booster for the royal team after the draw in the previous round against Atlético Madrid and the loss to Lille in the UEFA Champions League.
Vinicius’ absence is expected to impact the Brazilian national team, as he was called up to represent the Seleção in the upcoming international break matches against Chile and Peru, as part of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
It is noted that Vinicius was gathered with his teammate Rodrygo, and Barcelona player Raphinha has also returned to the squad.
In terms of La Liga, Real Madrid currently occupies second place in the standings with 21 points, tied with leaders Barcelona but behind on goal difference.
Meanwhile, Villarreal is in third place with 17 points, and it seems that the team is seeking to strengthen its squad and regain victories after a series of mixed results recently.
