Following the decision of the European Court of Justice on the fisheries and agriculture agreements between the Kingdom of Morocco and the European Union, in which Morocco confirmed, through its Foreign Minister, Nasser Bourita, that it is “detached from reality” and remains without impact on the issue of the Moroccan Sahara and its “dynamics”, Germany reiterated the “great importance” it attaches to the strategic, multidimensional and distinguished partnership between Morocco and the European Union, following the decision of the European Court of Justice on the fisheries and agriculture agreements between the European Union and Morocco.

The official spokesman for the German Foreign Ministry indicated, in a press release, that the relations between the European Union and Morocco, which are broad and long-term, are expected to deepen further, recalling in this context the joint statement issued by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the High Representative of the European Union, Josep Borrell, regarding the decision of the European Court of Justice.

It is worth noting that the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the High Representative of the European Union, Josep Borrell, renewed, in a joint statement, following the European Court of Justice’s ruling, the European Union’s commitment to further maintain and strengthen its close relations with Morocco in all areas, in line with the principle of “pacta sunt servanda”.

This joint statement, a rare act that confirms the importance of Morocco and embodies the importance of the partnership between the European Union and the Kingdom, reiterated the “great value” that the European Union attaches to its strategic partnership with Morocco, which has remained broad and deep for a long time.

The German Federal Foreign Office, which took note of the European Court of Justice’s ruling, also indicated that strengthening relations between Berlin and Rabat is linked to the strategic dialogue taking place at the level of the foreign ministers of the two countries.
