Austria has reiterated its commitment to the “excellent relations” that bind it to the Kingdom of Morocco.
The Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed, in a statement published on its account on the (X) platform following the issuance of the European Court of Justice’s decision regarding the fisheries and agriculture agreements between the European Union and the Kingdom, that Vienna supports the joint statement issued by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the High Representative of the European Union, Josep Borrell, regarding the decision of the European Court of Justice.
The ministry added, which was keen to point out that Austria will “carefully study” the court’s decision, that Austria reaffirms its excellent bilateral relations with the Kingdom of Morocco.
Following the issuance of the European Court of Justice’s decision, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the High Representative of the European Union, Josep Borrell, renewed, in a joint statement, the European Union’s commitment to further maintaining and strengthening its close relations with Morocco in all areas in line with the principle of “pacta sunt servanda”.
This joint statement, a rare act that confirms the importance of Morocco and embodies the importance of the partnership between the European Union and the Kingdom, reiterated the “great value” that the European Union attaches to its strategic partnership with Morocco, which has remained broad and deep for a long time.
