To enhance Egyptian-Slovenian relations in the economic, trade, maritime and ports fields, Ambassador Sasho Podlesnik, Slovenian Ambassador to Cairo, and Major General Nihad Shahin, Deputy Minister of Transport, participated in the celebration announcing the development of Koper Port in preparation for receiving international commercial ships, in the presence of more than 100 representatives of institutions, business associations and companies from both countries.
Major General Shahin stressed in his speech the importance of maritime cooperation between the two countries, while the Slovenian Ambassador expressed his happiness with the cooperation that confirms the extent of the interconnection between the Egyptian and Slovenian countries.
The Slovenian Ambassador added, saying: “Today, this cooperation is crowned by highlighting the advantages of the Slovenian port.”
While some Egyptian businessmen expressed their happiness with this cooperation in linking the port, which is Europe’s water gateway, with the ports of Alexandria and Damietta in the field of container logistics, because it works to enhance Egyptian exports to the European Union countries.
During the ceremony, a presentation was given about the port, its historical background, its various stations, ongoing and future projects, its multi-modal transport network, information infrastructure, smart applications, and a single-window system to automatically link all government agencies with the port authority, the use of electronic signature technology, and the application of the OPS system at the port. In addition to the most prominent capabilities of the port and its components that qualified it to be one of the main gateways to the European continent.
