US Ambassador to Cairo: Keen to Strengthen Cultural and Artistic Cooperation with Egypt

Ambassador Hiro Mustafa Garg, US Ambassador to Cairo, said that Egypt is the heart of culture in the Middle East, stressing her keenness to strengthen cultural and artistic cooperation between Egypt and the United States.
This came on the sidelines of a ceremony held by the US Ambassador to Cairo on the sidelines of the Cairo Film Festival, celebrating the 45th session.

During the ceremony, the Ambassador honored the star Hussein Fahmy, President of the Cairo International Film Festival, where she thanked all the workers at the Cairo Film Festival, and specifically mentioned Hussein Fahmy, President of the Festival, Essam Zakaria, Director of the Festival, and others from the management of the 45th session.

Hiro Mustafa Garg, US Ambassador to Egypt, said that Egypt is the mother of the world and the beating heart of culture in the Middle East, praising the star Hussein Fahmy and the star Yousra for recently awarding them the Golden Globe Award, stressing that Yousra is an icon and a role model.

The US Ambassador continued her speech by saying that the movie “Saidi at the American University” is one of the best comedy movies that she watched when she was working in the Emirates.

Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the ceremony, the US Ambassador expressed her happiness with the success of the 45th session of the Cairo Film Festival, especially since there was great cooperation in the field of exchanging experiences between Egyptian and American filmmakers.

For his part, Hussein Fahmy said: “It is a great opportunity to receive my honor from the US Ambassador,” stressing that he lost his brother Mustafa Fahmy a few days ago, which caused him great sadness.

Hussein Fahmy mentioned during his speech jokingly that he worked in Hollywood, and that he presented more than 100 films in Egypt, in addition to other works and series, and when he met the American star Jack Lemmon, he found that he had presented 11 films at the time and had won an Oscar. The ceremony was attended by the stars, Lebleba, Yousra, Elham Shaheen, Sherine Reda, Mahmoud Hemeida, Nelly Karim, Ahmed El-Fishawy, Sabry Fawaz, Sandra Nashat, Draco Peric, famous for his role in La Casa de Papel, director Yousry Nasrallah, and a number of critics, directors, film producers, and others.
