By Sama Marwan,

A new generation of activists and entrepreneurs is at the forefront of climate change mitigation, leveraging technology and social media to drive awareness and action. From Greta Thunberg’s global influence to local innovators in renewable energy, young leaders are making their voices heard.

In Kenya, 17-year-old environmentalist Elizabeth Wathuti is leading a tree-planting initiative that has already restored thousands of hectares of forest. Meanwhile, in Germany, high school students developed a prototype for affordable solar-powered water purifiers, showcasing the ingenuity of youth-driven solutions.

Educational institutions are also playing a key role by fostering innovation among students. Hackathons and sustainability workshops are becoming commonplace, providing platforms for young minds to collaborate on real-world problems. The dedication and creativity of these youth leaders offer a beacon of hope for a more sustainable future.
