As of December 2024, President Emmanuel Macron is under increasing pressure following a series of political crises. His government is struggling with a spiraling deficit, leading to significant unrest in the National Assembly. Macron’s decision to call for snap elections earlier in the year has been widely criticized, and some political analysts suggest he might step down to avoid further damage to his presidency.
Despite this, Macron has firmly rejected any suggestion of resignation, insisting he will stay in office until his term ends in 2027. However, his political influence is waning as his party, Renaissance, lost ground in the elections.
