By Sama Marwan,

Dr. Badr Abdel Aaty, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, emphasized that Egypt maintains a firm stance on respecting Syrian sovereignty and rejects any external interference. Speaking on the sidelines of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s European tour, which includes visits to Denmark, Norway, and Ireland, Abdel Aaty highlighted Syria’s complex situation as a key topic of discussion.

Abdel Aaty underscored the necessity of a peaceful and inclusive political transition in Syria that reflects the country’s diverse societal fabric. He reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to a Syrian-led solution, emphasizing that all political, ethnic, and religious groups should be represented in the transition process without foreign domination.

The minister also noted the broader context of the president’s visit, focusing on strengthening political and economic ties with European nations. Key discussions have revolved around Palestinian issues, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, the ongoing conflict in Sudan, and global investment opportunities. In Ireland specifically, bilateral cooperation in renewable energy and clean technology has been a priority.

This visit marks the first by an Egyptian president to Ireland, signaling Egypt’s intention to bolster relations with northern European nations on political, economic, and security fronts.
